NAHL's Rochester Jr. Americans Will Host First Responders from Across Western New York During Thrilling Hockey Weekend

Rochester Jr. Americans News Release

FAIRPORT, NY - The Rochester Jr. Americans, the latest expansion franchise in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are ready to drop the puck on an action-packed weekend at the Rochester Ice Center. As the team challenges the New Hampshire Mountain Kings, the organization invites the community to two distinctive events: free hat giveaway on Friday and First Responders Appreciation Night on Saturday.

Saturday: First Responders Appreciation Night

On Saturday night, the Jr. Americans will host First Responders Appreciation Night, a game centered around showing recognition for our brave community heroes. All law enforcement, fire, rescue, EMS, and other will be granted free admission to the game when they show ID or badge at the door. This night will be an opportunity for fans to come together and show their support for the Jr. Americans while supporting a positive cause. Adding to the excitement, the Jr. Americans will hit the ice in special one-of-a-kind first responders jerseys, creating a meaningful connection to the evening's theme.

Mazurkiewicz Family Ceremonial Puck Drop

To honor the life of fallen officer Anthony Mazurkiewicz, the Mazurkiewicz family has agreed to drop the ceremonial puck at Saturday's game. On July 21st, 2022, Anthony was killed in the line of duty in the city of Rochester. He served 29 years as a part of the Rochester Police Department. As a token of our appreciation, the NAHL Jr. Americans have a few surprises to present to the Mazurkiewicz family in honor of Anthony's life.

Team Looks to Continue Hot Streak

The Jr. Amerks, led by Former Amerk Francois Methot and long-time NHL All-Star Brian Gionta, have been on a roll. The team has won four of its last five games and have been thrusted into a tight divisional playoff race. Additionally, forwards Matteo Disipio and Massimo Gentile are amongst the leaders in NAHL scoring with 46 points and 42 points in 35 games respectively. Disipio in particular has 12 points in his last five games.

Amerks join Jr. Amerks in Outdoor Hockey Collaboration

Last Monday, the Amerks and Jr. Amerks met outdoors on the backyard rink to play some pickup hockey. The event, sponsored by Wegmans, was the first time the two organizations have linked up. The two organizations are looking forward to sharing additional collaborations in the near future.

Media Coverage Encouraged

The Jr. Americans welcome media coverage of the weekend's events. All members of the media will be granted free admission to document the games.

Join us for a weekend of hockey, community support, and appreciation for our first responders. The Rochester Jr. Americans extend an invitation to all, inviting you to witness the games at the Rochester Ice Center.
