Nadim, Bonner Campaign in Support of Ukrainian Refugees
April 13, 2022 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
Racing Louisville FC News Release
Racing Louisville FC players Nadia Nadim and Gemma Bonner have joined efforts to support Ukraine's refugee crisis through the social action platform Game of Our Lives.
The nonprofit Game of Our Lives mobilizes people to take action on critical worldwide matters such as human rights, inclusion and environmental issues. Its goal is to see 1 billion humans give 1% of their time to the people and their planet by 2030.
Nadim and Bonner - both veteran professionals part of Racing Louisville's 2022 Captains Group - have concentrated their efforts on Game of Our Lives' Humane Ukraine campaign at gameofourliv.es/HumaneUkraine. It aims to support millions of Ukrainians displaced as a result of the ongoing Russian invasion, particularly mothers and children.
"Helping people has always been close to my heart. This platform does that," said Nadim, herself an Afghan refugee displaced as a child under the Taliban's rule. "Everyone that I've been speaking to wants to help. Mostly, you don't know how. This platform allows you to educate yourself, along with showing you how to be a part of the movement.
"I want to be part of this platform because it allows you to learn and make a difference."
Rather than push exclusively for financial contributions on behalf of campaigns, Game of Our Lives allows its followers opportunities to support in other ways such as pledges, petitions, volunteer work and educational initiatives.
Game of Our Lives calculates its efforts by measuring Lives Impacted, or "the equivalent of a significant but temporary moment of support in someone's day." Already, Humane Ukraine has passed the 100 mark as Nadim and Bonner begin to spread the word.
"Game of Our Lives is such a unique platform that connects everyone around the world to help those in need," Bonner said. "I feel proud to be part of a movement which has the potential to have a huge impact on so many people."
Racing fans can join Nadim and Bonner here by visiting gameofourliv.es/HumaneUkraine, where tasks and updates are ever changing as the campaign progresses.
