
Myrtle Beach Beats Kinston 11-2

The Pelicans bats pounded out 16 hits on their way to an 11-2 win over Kinston, Saturday night at Historic Grainger Stadium.
Myrtle Beach started the scoring in the top of the second inning off of Kinston starter T.J. House. After a lead-off single by Jared Prince and a walk to Zach Zaneski, Travis Adair delivered an RBI single to put the Pelicans up. In the fourth inning, Myrtle Beach capitalized when Zaneski reached on an error to start the frame. With two-outs in the inning, Ryan Strausborger delivered an RBI single to put Myrtle Beach up 2-0. House was taken out of the game after four innings and stuck with the loss. He gave up two runs (one earned) in four innings of work. House struck out five and walked two
Chris Jones was greeted rudely from the K-Tribe pen in the top of the fifth inning. After a lead-off single by Chris McGuiness and a two-out walk to Prince, Zaneski drove them both home with a double. Leading 4-0 going into the top of the seventh inning, the Pelicans exploded for six runs on five hits and three walks. Myrtle Beach sent eleven men up to the plate. The first two in the frame faced Jones and Travis Turek tried to deal with the rest. Jones gave up four earned runs in two innings of work. Turek gave up four earned in two innings as well, breaking up a stretch of eight consecutive scoreless innings for the right-hander.
Myrtle Beach starter Joe Wieland was great, getting the win by throwing seven shutout innings. Kinston managed two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning when Bo Greenwell hit an RBI single and Chase Burnette was hit by a pitch with the bases full. Greenwell went 3-for-5 on the night and is now hitting .345 on the season.
It is an Easter Celebration at Historic Grainger Stadium at 1:30 pm on Sunday. The Easter Bunny will be at the game and candy filled eggs will be given out to the kids. Brett Brach on the mound for Kinston. Game time 1:30 pm.
