KENNEWICK, WA - NHL Central Scouting released their October 'Players to Watch' list for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft on Monday. Americans forward Sasha Mutala is one of 35 players recognized from the Western Hockey League.
Mutala received a 'B' ranking which indicates a potential second or third round draft selection.
The 17-year-old has started the 2018-19 season with one goal and two assists in the Americans' first three games.
"We're proud of Sasha's development and look forward to watching him grow during his NHL draft season," said General Manager Bob Tory.
During his 2017-18 rookie campaign with the Americans, Mutala recorded 11 goals and 15 assists for a .38 points per game average.
His success continued into the offseason when he captured a Gold Medal with Team Canada at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup on August 11. Mutala played five games through the tournament and tallied four points, including two goals in the championship game against Sweden.
The 2019 NHL Entry Draft will take place June 21-22 in Mutala's hometown of Vancouver, BC.
