Muskrats Defeat Swamp Bats For Third Time This Season

The Laconia Muskrats defeated the Keene Swamp Bats for the third time this season to improve to 3-1 against Keene.

The Muskrats jumped all over Swamp Bats pitching in the seventh inning, plating five runs and would hold on for the win by a score of 6-2.

The Swamp Bats started the scoring in the top of the second inning on a solo home run by Connor Fitzsimons for his first of the season and Keene led 1-0 after the top of the second.

Laconia would respond in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Brett Lashley as Will Mackenzie would come around to score after he reached on an error by the Keene short stop Garrett Christman.

Kade McClure's day would be done on the mound for Keene after four innings pitched, allowing one unearned run on five hits and recording two strikeouts.

In the seventh inning Laconia dominated Keene pitchers, as they would score five runs on three hits and three walks. Two of the five runs would be scored on a wild pitch and a passed ball against Swamp Bats pitcher Daniel Nations. Nations would pitch one-third inning and allow three earned runs while Paul Covelle, who started pitching the seventh inning would depart after 2.1 innings pitched and allowing two earned runs on two hits.

The score would be 6-1 in favor of the Muskrats after seven innings of play.

Keene would score a run in the eighth inning when Larry Crisler came around to score on a Fitzsimons groundout to cut the lead to 6-2.

Max Bruckner would come in for the ninth inning for the Muskrats and close the door against Keene for the 6-2 victory.

The Swamp Bats fall to 4-15 on the season and will have Sunday off before beginning a four game home stand at Alumni Field on Tuesday when they will play the Vermont Mountaineers for the first time this season.
