Sioux City Musketeers News Release
Sioux City, IA - A 6-2 win for the Sioux City Musketeers snaps the Tri-City Storm's eight game winning streak and begins the Musketeers three game weekend with a victory.
The offense jumped out to a quick start with a goal from a defenseman. Easton Zueger ripped his fifth goal of the season into the back of the net.
Ryan Conmy hit a milestone with his 30th goal of the season. Conmy becomes the first Musketeers rookie to score 30 goals in a season since Ruslan Fedotenko scored 43 goals during the 1998-99 season.
The Muskies made it a 3-0 advantage when Finn Loftus pin balled a puck off a Storm defender and into the net at the 18:57 mark of the period.
Tri-City pulled a goal closer with Jake Richard's 26th of the season at 10:17 in the second period. But it was Ethan Gradula playing in his third game who rebuilt the lead to three. Gradula capitalized on a Storm turnover for his first goal in the USHL and as a Musketeer and Sioux City took a 4-1 lead into the third period.
In the third, the Muskies took full control of the contest. Only 15 seconds into the period, Grant Slukynsky scored his 15th tally of the season. Max Strand then collected his fifth goal of the year putting one past Patriks Berzins on a four on four.
Trevor Connelly scored a goal for the Storm at the 8:03 mark of the third to give the game its final score of 6-2.
Two more games this weekend await Sioux City (21-23-2-3). Another matchup with Tri-City in Kearney on Saturday night starting at 7:05 pm. And then a game in Omaha on Sunday afternoon scheduled for 4:05 pm.
