Sioux City Musketeers News Release
The Musketeers head to Plymouth, Michigan for the 1st and 2nd matchup against the U17 USA Hockey National Team Development Program, and 3rd game against the USA Hockey NTDP this season. Sioux City fell to the U18 team 4-0 back in September in the Fall Classic. The Musketeers come into this weekend after picking up three of a possible six points this past weekend, They beat the defending Clark Cup Champion Sioux Falls Stampede on Friday, 5-2. The Musketeers then lost 6-3 on Saturday and 3-2 on Sunday in overtime to the Eastern Conference leading Chicago Steel.
The U17's are young, but cannot be discounted. Although their record is only 3-5 on the season in the USHL, they own a 12-8-1 record overall on the season. The U17's have had an opportunity to compete against the stars of other countries. They have played teams from Russia, Czech Republic, Finland, and the Canada teams Red, White and Black. While the Musketeers sit at a recent 4-5-1 in their last 10 games, the U17's sit at 8-1-1 in their past 10 games. Their last 7 games were in Medicine Hat, Alberta for the 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
The Musketeers are 1-2 on the road this year, one coming at the Fall Classic against the U18's. This is only the 3rd road trip of the year for Sioux City with the 12 other games of the season at home. The common trend for the Musketeers is to split their series with opponents. So far the Musketeers have split their games against Youngstown, Green Bay, and Lincoln. Sioux City comes into the weekend tied for 5th with Fargo in the Western Conference. Their 7-7-1 record gives them 15 points. NTDP's overall record is 8-6 in the USHL. They sit in 7th place in the East.
The Musketeers head for home after the matchup against the USA Hockey NTDP as they take on the Lincoln Stars on Wednesday, November 27th at the Tyson Events Center with puck drop at 7:05 P.M.
