Amarillo Bulls News Release
Amarillo, TX - The Amarillo Bulls announced, Wednesday evening, that forward Gleb Murtazin has committed to play Division I hockey at Union College.
Murtazin, a Penza, Russia native, is in the midst of his second stint with the Bulls, having played 38 games with the team during the 2017-2018 season before appearing in 49 games for the USHL's Green Bay Gamblers during the 2018-2019 campaign.
"I am truly honored to be a part of Union College and the hockey program," said Murtazin. "I'm excited to be a part of such a great program and receive a world-class education."
Since rejoining the Bulls during the holiday break, Murtazin has 18 points through 23 games, including five goals and 13 assists. He represented Amarillo at the 2020 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament in Attleboro, MA, earning four points in two games.
"We are extremely excited for Gleb for his commitment to Union," said Head Coach Rocky Russo. "Getting the opportunity to bring him back to Amarillo this season has been great, and he has really enjoyed his return. It was only a matter of time until Gleb generated interest from Division I programs, and it didn't take long for Coach Tapp to take notice. Coach Bennett and his staff have had tremendous success at Union, and former Bull Gabriel Seger is really enjoying his experience there. I have no doubt that Gleb will be an outstanding addition to the Union Hockey team and the academic community."
