
Murphy Named to 2012 Canada-Russia Challenge Roster

Hockey Canada announced Friday that Kitchener Rangers defenseman Ryan Murphy is one of 28 players selected to represent Canada in the 2012 Canada-Russia Challenge in August. The event takes place in Yarslavl, Russia and Halifax, N.S and replaces Canada's National Junior Team summer development camp.
A first-round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Murphy was one of the Ontario Hockey League's top-scoring defensemen last season, recording 11 goals and 43 assists in 49 games played.
Rangers General Manager and Head Coach Steve Spott will also take part in the Canada-Russia Challenge as the Head Coach of the National Junior Team.
The 2012 Canada-Russia Challenge begins August 9 with the first of two games in Yaroslavl, Russia before shifting to Halifax, N.S on August 13.
