Lancaster JetHawks News Release

ADELANTO, Calif. - Bryan Muniz totaled four hits and Dean Deetz tossed four solid innings as the JetHawks beat the High Desert Mavericks, 6-3, on Tuesday night at Heritage Field.

The win clinched a series victory for the JetHawks (37-38) and put them in position for a three-game sweep if they can take Wednesday's series finale. The club was 1-7 at Heritage Field this season before the start of this series.

Muniz's first hit put Lancaster ahead in the first inning. Johnny Sewald and Drew Ferguson started the game with back-to-back singles against starter Ariel Jurado (6-2). Muniz grounded a base hit into left field to score Sewald.

High Desert (45-31) would take the lead in the second inning with two runs against Akeem Bostick. The right-hander walked two batters and threw two wild pitches in the frame to lead to the runs.

Bostick allowed two runs on five hits with three walks and two strikeouts over four innings in his first start since coming off the disabled list.

Tandem starter Dean Deetz (4-3) picked up for Bostick in the fifth inning and allowed just one unearned run over four frames to earn the win. He struck out two and did not issue a walk.

Gonzalo Sanudo tossed a scoreless ninth inning in his 2016 JetHawks debut to earn the save.

Keach Ballard gave the JetHawks some insurance with a two-run home run in the sixth inning against reliever Shane McCain. Ballard has two home runs in seven RBIs in his first three games with Lancaster.

The JetHawks send Brock Dykxhoorn (4-2) to the mound on Wednesday in search of the sweep. High Desert counters with Tyler Davis (3-2). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Heritage Field.
