
Mudcats Make Roster Moves

Zebulon, NC --- The Florida Marlins have announced three roster moves involving their Double-A affiliate Carolina Mudcats.
Infielder Wilson Valdez, 24, a member of Florida's 40-man roster, has been promoted to Triple-A for the first time in his career. Valdez leaves the Southern League as its stolen base leader with 16, including two in his final game on Friday night. Valdez was hitting .313 with 14 RBI. Valdez' .313 average ranked 10th in the league, tied for fifth in hits with 45, and fourth in runs scored with 28.
Jesus Medrano, 24, who began this season with the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes, was hitting .228 with one home run and 12 runs batted in. Medrano, who swiped 61 bases in 2001 with High-A Brevard County, was tied for the Isotopes lead with seven steals. Medrano is currently on Florida's 40-man roster.
Sean Fesh, 30, who opened this season by throwing 18 scoreless innings with the Mudcats, to go along with a 6-0 record and two saves, returns to the Mudcats after nearly a two-week stay at Albuquerque.. In six relief appearances with the Isotopes, Fesh compiled an ERA of 10.80 and a 1-0 record.
Both Medrano and Fesh will be active and in uniform tonight.
The Mudcats active roster is now at the Southern League limit of 23 players.
Carolina continues its eight-game homestand tonight against the Birmingham Barons at 7:15 PM ET. The first 1,200 adults will receive a BB&T/Oldies 100.7 Golf Umbrella. Gates will open at 6:15 PM.
