NEWS & NOTES:

- Jump, Jive and Wail - The Mudcats slugged seven extra base hits to swim past Myrtle Beach 7-2 on Saturday night. Jesus Aguilar belted a pair of doubles and drove in two. Tony Wolters doubled and earned three RBI. Dwight Childs launched his second home run. Francisco Jimenez picked up his second win, tossing four innings.

- All-Star - Jesus Aguilar, long considered one of the best power hitters in the Indians farm system, is finding his touch at the plate. He's hit safely in five of the last six games. The slugger is batting .350 with six doubles and five RBI during this stretch.

- Black or White - Carolina pitching has the second best ERA (3.16), allowed the second fewest home runs (5) and the second fewest earned runs (46) in the league. But on the other hand, the staff has issued a league-high 69 walks. The defense has allowed the most unearned runs (18).

- U Can't Touch This - J.D. Reichenbach ran his scoreless innings streak to 8.1 with three shutout frames against Myrtle Beach on April 19. The lefty product of Elon University has scattered four hits over six appearances, walked one and fanned six.

- The Thunder Rolls - The Mudcats have cranked 50 extra base hits on the year. Carolina has mashed eight home runs, belted six triples, and doubled 36 times. The team is tied with Salem for second in the league. The Lynchburg Hillcats have 64 extra base knocks.
