Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
POST ALL-STAR WEEKEND PROVES PRODUCTIVE ON THE ROAD
The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs skated for two hard fought victories in Youngstown over the weekend. Friday's game featured a first period goal by Joe Ori that gained the Mudbugs a lead for the early portion of the game. Youngstown's Garrett Larson evened the score in the second period, but Karlis Zirnis deflected a shot from Daniel Pegoraro to reclaim the lead in the early third period. Dan Wildfong's power play goal would eventually prove to be the game winner. John DeCaro's 32 save performance was the overall difference maker as the Bugs finished with a 3-2 win. DeCaro backed Friday's game with an equally great performance on Saturday stopping 30 of 31 shots. Jason Basile scored at the end of the first period and Chris Abbott tallied one more on the power play en route to a 2-1 victory. Saturday's game was filled with physical play as Youngstown's Dallas Anderson and Dan Wildfong were both ejected with game misconduct penalties.
BUGS COME UP SHORT TUESDAY MORNING IN MEMPHIS
Over 7,000 screaming children showed up to watch the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and Memphis RiverKings play an intensely close game on Tuesday morning. The Bugs were down 1-0 when Ryan Fairbarn lifted a shot top shelf past Memphis goaltender Larry Sterling to tie the game 34 seconds into the second period. Bossier-Shreveport out shot Memphis 15 to 7 in a third period that was mainly played in the RiverKings' zone. However, it was Memphis that registered two breakaway goals, one by Steve Mackway streaking out of the penalty box and another by Phil Aucoin off a blocked shot from the Memphis blue line. Adam Hanna stopped 29 of 32 in his only loss of the season.
