Youngstown SteelHounds News Release
YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Youngstown SteelHounds (16-13-7, 39 points) continue a five-game home stand on Friday night when they begin a three-games-in-three-nights set versus the red-hot Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (15-17-5, 35 points). Friday and Saturday night's games begin at 7:05 PM and Sunday's face-off is a special early start time of 4:05 PM at the Chevrolet Centre.
Friday's game features one of the world's most beloved characters in SpongeBob SquarePants who will be on hand for all of the festivities (courtesy of Nickelodeon and Time Warner Cable). The world-renowned sponge will drop the first puck and participate in all the night's activities.
On Saturday, there will be a hockey doubleheader with the Hounds playing in the evening and the first-ever Guns & Hoses Charity Hockey game being played at 1:00 PM at the Chevrolet Centre. The game will pit law enforcement officials and firemen from the Mahoning Valley with some special guests mixed in. Your SteelHounds ticket gets you access for the charity game. The special guests lacing them up in the afternoon include Hounds Head Coach Kevin Kaminski and Talk Radio 570 WKBN's Dan Rivers.
The United Way will benefit from the Guns & Hoses game as a portion of the tickets sold through the fire department and law enforcement agencies will be donated to the Mahoning Valley chapter of the United Way.
Also on Saturday night, it is the return of "Flip Your Lids" as fans are encouraged to bring hats, scarves and mittens to the game and throw them on the ice after the Hounds score their first goal. All collected items will be donated to Good Will of Youngstown.
The next day and the final game of the series will be the first Sunday home game in SteelHounds history. Following the game there will be a FREE post-game skate with the players.
"We are excited about offering a Sunday game to our fans," said Hounds General Manager Joe Gregory. "Many sports fans view the Sunday before the SuperBowl as a time to experience sports withdrawal but we can offer them an action, packed event to get them through until the big game in Miami."
Tickets for all three games this weekend are now on sale at the Chevy Centre Box Office or by calling the Hounds at 330 747-PUCK (7825)
