Eagles Still #1 in CHL Coach's Poll

Published on January 24, 2007 under Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

The Colorado Eagles are still clearly the top team in the Central Hockey League, according to results of this week's CHL Coach's Poll. The Eagles earned another mention in the CHL record book recently, winning 15 straight contests to establish a new mark, and with 19 consecutive home wins are closing in on another. The Eagles host the top club in the Southern Conference this evening, the defending CHL champion Laredo Bucks, who established the current record home winning streak of 21 games during the 2003-2004 season.

Along with Colorado, the top four positions remain unchanged since the last poll of January 4th. The surging Memphis RiverKings have won 10 straight contests and rank second, with Laredo third and the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs fourth. The Corpus Christi Rayz have put together a five game winning streak of their own, and have moved into fifth spot for their highest ranking of the season. Also this week the New Mexico Scorpions make their poll debut, claiming the #10 ranking and rebounding from a 3-8-0 start to the regular season.

Throughout the season the CHL will release the results of the Coaches Poll. Each first place selection earns 10 points, second place earns 9 points, etc. Coaches cannot vote for their own team, creating a potential perfect score of 160 points should one club receive all 16 possible first place votes. Previous week results listed below current week.
