CARROLL & WILDFONG SHINE - On Friday night, Dan Wildfong scored a shorthanded breakaway goal and Ken Carroll made 37 saves as the Mudbugs defeated the Laredo Bucks 3-0 in front of 5,424 fans at the CenturyTel Center. After a scoreless first period, Chad Spurr broke the deadlock at 9:11 of the second period with assists from Chris Brassard and Milan Vodrazka. Later in the frame, with the Mudbugs working on a four-minute power play chance, Jason Campbell deflected a Craig Minard shot into the top corner of the net at 15:01 for a 2-0 lead. The game's scoring would end just three minutes later as Wildfong scored with a beautiful backhand move on a shorthanded breakaway to give the Mudbugs a 3-0 lead.

BUGS LOSE LATE LEAD - Bret DeCecco scored with 34 seconds left in regulation time and Larry Sterling made 38 saves as the Fort Worth Brahmas came from behind and defeated the Mudbugs on Saturday night 3-2 in a shootout in front of 6,527 fans at the CenturyTel Center. With the one point in the regulation tie, the Mudbugs are now six points ahead of Youngstown in first place in the Northeast Division. Bossier-Shreveport held a 2-1 lead until the final minute when DeCecco took a Wes Mason pass from behind the net and scored with the extra attacker to tie the game at 2-2. In the shootout, Sterling stopped four Mudbugs shooters and Ben Gustavson notched the game-winning goal.

Ken Carroll - Ranks third in the all-time CHL shutout list with 18, four behind the leader Rod Branch

Dan Wildfong - Leads the Mudbugs in points (35) and penalty minutes (138)

Jason Basile - Played in his 220th consecutive Mudbugs game, four shy of the team record (Buchanan)

MUDBUGS IN THE COMMUNITY

Tuesday January 17th - Texas Roadhouse - Mudbugs players will be appearing at Texas Roadhouse in Bossier City from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Kid's Day.

Wednesday January 18th - Kroger on Youree Drive - Mudbugs players will be appearing from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

POWER PLAY AT BUFFALO WILD WINGS OFF FOR TWO WEEKS- Due to the CHL All-Star Game, "Power Play with Scott Muscutt" will not take place this week or next week, due to a home game. The next edition of the Mudbugs' radio show will be on January 31st at 6:00 p.m. from the Louisiana Boardwalk in Bossier City.

NEXT YEAR'S ALL-STAR HOSTS? - On Tuesday night at this year's CHL All-Star Banquet, the Central Hockey League will announce the host city for the 2007 CHL All-Star Game. The Mudbugs ownership and staff have placed a bid to host the event, which could bring the CHL's best to Bossier-Shreveport in January of next year. The announcement will take place on Tuesday evening and information will be available at www.mudbugshockey.com and www.centralhockeyleague.com.

MUDBUGS ALL-STARS - The Mudbugs will have four representatives participating in the 2006 Obra Homes CHL All-Star Game on January 18th at Rio Grande Valley: forward Scott Sheppard (1st appearance), defenseman Dale Lupul (1st appearance), goaltender Ken Carroll (5th career appearance) , and broadcaster Steve Mears (2nd appearance). The 2006 Obra Homes CHL All-Star Game will be aired with live video at www.chltv.com.

THIS WEEK - This week, the Mudbugs will host the Oklahoma City Blazers on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. as Copeland's Famous New Orleans Restaurant invites all fans to the CenturyTel Center. Then Saturday will be "Guaranteed Win Night" as the Mudbugs host the Memphis RiverKings at 7:05 p.m. If the Mudbugs fail to win, all fans will receive a free ticket to the next home game. It will also be "Sign Night" as all fans are asked to bring their most creative signs to the CenturyTel Center and prizes will be awarded. For more information, please call 318-752-2847.
