Youngstown SteelHounds News Release
YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Youngstown SteelHounds and the Mahoning Valley Phantoms announced today in a joint press conference at the Chevrolet Centre that they will host "Hockey Night in the Mahoning Valley" on Saturday, January 21st at the Chevrolet Centre. SteelHounds owner Herb Washington and Phantoms owner Bruce Zoldan made the announcements.
On January 21st, both teams will participate in a hockey doubleheader that will feature the Phantoms playing the future NHL stars of tomorrow when they battle the USA National Team. Face-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM. The game is a part of North American Hockey League's (NAHL) North Division Showcase running from January 19th through January 22nd with all other games being played at the Ice Zone located at 360 McClurg Rd. in Boardman.
Following the Phantoms contest, the SteelHounds will host the Southwest Division leading Odessa Jackalopes with face-off scheduled for 7:30 PM. The game was originally slated to begin at 7:05 PM but the drop of the puck has been pushed back to accommodate the earlier contest.
"We are very pleased to offer our venue to the Phantoms for a portion of their showcase," said Washington. "We are coming off our first sell-out crowd on Saturday night showing that hockey fans in the Mahoning Valley have grown accustomed to all the nuances that the Chevrolet Centre offers for the fans and are confident that the Phantom's players, organization and fans will enjoy the experience they have here. It is especially thrilling to think of the great talent that the USA National Team has and for hockey fans to see several potential future NHL star's here at the Chevrolet Centre."
"On behalf of the Mahoning Valley Phantoms organization and the North American Hockey League, we thank Herb Washington and the Youngstown SteelHounds Hockey Club for sharing the spotlight with us this Saturday at the Chevrolet Centre, and giving us the opportunity to showcase the Phantoms and the NAHL on a larger scale," said Zoldan. "We are excited to partner with the SteelHounds in promoting hockey to our growing number of fans in the Valley."
One ticket will gain admission to both games with regular SteelHounds pricing taking affect. Tickets can be purchased at the Chevrolet Centre box office, by calling 866-4-GETTIX or by visiting gettix.net. Fans that have purchased a pass that covers the Phantoms Hockey Showcase 2006 will be able to show their showcase pass at the Chevrolet Centre box office and receive a ticket good for both games.
Doors will open at 3:00 PM on Saturday and general admission seating will be recognized for the Phantoms/USA National Team Game with fans being directed to sit in their numbered, assigned seats for the SteelHounds/Jackalopes game.
