Kings hit All-Star break
The Lubbock Cotton Kings finally had a week they gained ground on Southwest Division leading Odessa, winning two out of the three games played last week. Lubbock opened their week last week Wednesday with a 5-4 shootout win over the Amarillo Gorillas in comeback fashion. The Kings only loss came Saturday night against the defending CHL Champion Colorado Eagles, who were able to convert a crucial power play opportunity with under four-minutes remaining to break a 2-2 and grab an eventual 4-2 win. Lubbock rebounded Sunday night with three first period goals en route to a 4-1 win over the Corpus Christi Rayz. The Cotton Kings sit nine standing-points behind Odessa and two behind Amarillo. The win Sunday gives the Kings a 16-17-1 record heading into the All-Star Break. While Stacey Bauman and Nolan Graham are representing the Kings as members of the Southern Conference in the 2006 CHL All-Star Game, presented by Obra Homes, down in the Rio Grande Valley, the remaining Kings will be resting up for this weekend/s home-and-home series with Amarillo.
