Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Allen Americans ended Bossier-Shreveport's eight-game winning streak Tuesday night at the CenturyTel Center with a 3-2 victory over the Mudbugs. The loss, which dropped the ‘Bugs to 1-3-1 against Allen this year, was their first since February 13.

Travis Clayton and Jeff Kyrzakos scored goals for Bossier-Shreveport, who also got two assists from Shawn Limpright. Ken Carroll stopped 27 shots but saw his own four-game win streak come to an end.

Allen jumped on top just 10 seconds into the game after Justin Bowers picked up a turnover at center ice and fed Matt Radoslovich for a tap-in to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage. The Mudbugs generated good chances as the period went on, but didn't get on the board until Limpright fed Clayton in the low slot for a powerplay goal at 14:05. Bowers then drew a penalty against the ‘Bugs and tipped in a point shot from Ryan Fairbarn to put the Americans back on top 2-1 after the first.

Bossier-Shreveport outshot Allen 11-10 in the second frame, but missed on two powerplays and couldn't solve McKee. Bruce Graham extended the Americans' lead to 3-1 at 18:05, picking up a loose puck and sneaking it over Carroll's shoulder from the left circle.

The Mudbugs drew closer in the third when Limpright drove down left wing and around the net before finding Jeff Kyrzakos, who knocked in his 20th goal of the year in front at 6:40 to make it 3-2. Despite another powerplay and a late push with Carroll pulled for an extra attacker, the ‘Bugs could not draw even and fell to 33-18-4.

Ken Carroll suffered his first loss since January 23 (also against Allen) and is now 13-7-3 on the season. David McKee made 29 saves to win in his first game with the Americans. The ‘Bugs outshot Allen 31-30 but finished 0 for 4 on the powerplay, while the Americans were 1 for 2.

The Mudbugs will be in action once again with a back-to-back set against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at 7:05 pm on both Friday and Saturday at the CenturyTel Center.

Great seats are still available, so contact the team office at 318-752-BUGS to purchase group tickets. Individual tickets for both games are available through Ticketmaster at 318-741-9700, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at the CenturyTel Center main box office.
