Ian Keserich's Shutout Voted CHL Performance of the Week

(Tempe, Arizona) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that Wichita goaltender Ian Keserich has been voted the winner of the CHL Performance of the Week for the week of February 15-21. The Thunder's net-minder made 27 saves in a 1-0 victory over the Texas Brahmas at the INTRUST Bank Arena on Sunday, February 21.

The win ended two streaks, first the Thunder's 19-game home losing streak (seven straight at their new home) and it ended the defending champion's eight-game win streak overall. Keserich earned his keep late in the game stopping 11 shots in the third period including several shots on a late Brahmas power play.

The Parma, Ohio native received 64% of the vote with 16,427 fans voting for his performance. Coming in second place was Corpus Christi's Chad Woollard who was a candidate thanks to his third hat trick of the season in a 9-4 win over Laredo on February 19. The league's leading goal scorer received 8,131 votes (32%). In all, there were 25,778 votes cast in the weekly poll.

The nominees for the CHL Performance of the Week for week 20 of the season for the period beginning on February 22 and ending on February 28 are as follows:

-Allen's Jordie Benn scoring game winning goal in OT versus RGV clinching Americans first playoff berth on February 23.

-Missouri's Charlie Effinger stopping all 20 shots he faced in a relief win versus Tulsa on February 26.

-Laredo's Darryl Smith helping out on four of the Bucks five goals in a win versus Texas on February 27.

-Rapid City's Colt King scoring a hat trick in a 5-2 win at Colorado on February 28.

-Odessa's Sebastien Thinel scoring four points including a hat trick in the Jacks 7-4 win over Amarillo on February 27.

Fans can vote for the winner until Monday, March 8 with the winner being announced on Tuesday, March 9.
