Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Tomorrow night at the CenturyTel Center, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs are set to host the rival Mississippi RiverKings for the first time this season at 7:05 pm. The game will be the first of a back-to-back set between the 'Bugs and 'Kings this week, with the teams traveling to clash in Southaven, Mississippi on Friday night.

Thursday's matchup will be the third of the year between the two longtime Northern Conference rivals, but it will be the first one to take place here in Bossier City. Bossier-Shreveport and Mississippi have split the first two meetings of their ten-game regular season series.

The Mudbugs took the first game by a 2-1 final score on Halloween day at the DeSoto Civic Center. Forward Jeff Kyrzakos scored both Mudbugs goals and John DeCaro made 29 saves as the 'Bugs got their third victory of the season.

Last Friday night at the DCC, Mississippi struck back with a 4-1 victory to hand the Mudbugs their first road loss of the season. The RiverKings built a 2-0 first period lead with a pair of powerplay goals and never relinquished the advantage. Cam Severson scored twice for the 'Kings, while newcomer Matt Cook scored Bossier-Shreveport's only goal in the loss.

The Mudbugs are coming off a thrilling 3-2 shootout win over Rapid City on Saturday night at the CTC, while the RiverKings lost 4-1 to Tulsa in their last game. Mississippi has played a CHL-most 14 games already this year, ranking in third place in the Northern Conference with a 7-7-0 record. The Mudbugs sit in fifth place in the North with a 5-6-0 mark entering this week.

Mudbugs mini-plans and group packages are available now, so call (318) 752-BUGS or stop by the team office inside CenturyTel Center for more information.
