Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
The Shreveport Mudbugs (3-0) scored and got lights out goaltending from Maiszon Balboa to shutout the Chippewa Steel, 3-0 in the opening contest of the 2019 NAHL Showcase.
The Mudbugs opened up the scoring early at 3:59 of the 1st period when Tim Khokhlachev ripped through the slot and fired home his 2nd goal of the season assisted by Anton Rubstov giving the Shreveport a 1-0 lead. Anton Rubstov then made a perfect pass to Davis Goukler who slapped in his first goal of the year giving the Bugs a 2-0 lead.
The score stayed the same until the 3rd period when Sam Miller threw a bouncer towards the net and it beat their goalie somehow to give Shreveport a 3-0 lead. The goal came at 11:29.
Maiszon Balboa earns his second straight shutout making 27 saves.
Shreveport improves to 3-0 for the second straight season.
The Mudbugs will continue their showcase battling the New Jersey Titans tomorrow afternoon with puck drop scheduled for 4 p.m.
