The Shreveport Mudbugs (3-1) suffered their first loss of the season falling 3-1 to the New Jersey Titans Thursday afternoon in day 2 of the 2019 NAHL Showcase in Blaine, MN.
Warren Natyshak opened up the scoring with a brilliant shot top shelf from the near circle to give Shreveport the early 1-0 lead at 8:21 of the opening period. Carson Nichols and Davis Goukler earned the helpers on the first tally of the game. New Jersey came right back with a pair of PP goal at 10:27 and 18:44 from Mac Wiseman and Mitch Machlitt respectively lifting the Titans to a 2-1 lead after one period of play.
New Jersey added to their lead at 1:41 of the 2nd period when Kyler Head faked out Richie Parent and shot it short side to make it a 3-1 Titans' lead. It was the only goal of the period, but the Bugs had their chances, but couldn't capitalize. Shreveport led in SOG, 18-15 after two periods of play.
The score stayed the same way in the 3rd period as the Bugs just couldn't solve Titans' goalie and fell 3-1 in the end. Shreveport outshot New Jersey, 29-25.
The Bugs will continue their 2019 NAHL Showcase taking on the Minnesota Magicians tomorrow morning with puck drop scheduled for 10 a.m. ?
