Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
Make it three straight polls for the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs as the top team in the CHL Coaches Poll. The Mudbugs received 16 of 17 first place votes being omitted from just their own ballot (teams cannot vote for themselves). Bossier-Shreveport leads the way with a 40-10-4 record and their 84 points are nine better than any other team in the CHL. The Bugs are just five points away from clinching their fifth straight Northeast Division title. Bossier-Shreveport started the season with an 0-5-1 record but have since gone 39-5-3. The biggest movement in the recent poll came from the Odessa Jackalopes who moved from #9 to #7 and the biggest drop came from the New Mexico Scorpions who fell from #6 to #9. The Youngstown SteelHounds move up one spot to #6 and the Colorado Eagles (previously #5) traded places with the Arizona Sundogs (previously #4). The hottest team in the CHL, the Texas Brahmas (16-5-0 in their last 21 games) failed to move up from their #10 position.
The Mudbugs received 16 of the 17 possible first place votes with Laredo receiving the other first place vote (teams cannot vote for themselves). The lead for the Mudbugs over the second ranked team is the largest of the season at 20 points (was 11 points in the previous poll released on February 15th). Laredo improved by eight points and Rocky Mountain lost eight points from the previous poll.
Balloting for the CHL Coaches Poll is done by the 17 CHL Head Coaches. The CHL Top 10 Coaches Poll is released at the beginning and the middle of each month throughout the season. Each first place vote receives 10 points, second place earns nine points, etc.
