Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Today's Game- Batavia hosts the first-place Mahoning Valley Scrappers today in the first of a three-game series. Batavia is 2-4 on the season against the Scrappers, with four of the six total games being decided by just one run.
That was last night- Sean Reynolds started the game with a bang by clubbing a solo home run in the top of the first inning. Luke Jarvis alos picked up his first extra-base hit as a pro. The Muckdogs came away with a 5-4 win over the State College Spikes, and the series win.
Osborne's outstanding- JD Osborne has been one of Batavia's top bats this season, hitting for a .350 average in the 27 games he has played in, including ten multi-hit games. He has the best OPS on the team with a .914, which had swelled to 1.001 in the month of July.
Two-out trouble- The Muckdogs have had issues getting out of innings once they've reorded two outs. Batavia has given up a .291 average with RISP and two outs. Of Batavia's 224 runs against, 95 of them have crossed the plate with RISP and two outs.
Donadio digging in- Michael Donadio has now hits in 16 of his last 21 games. He's tallied 24 hits, two home runs and has crossed the plate nine times in that span. He is second on the team with four home runs. He left St. John's with the second most all-time hits with 268.
Reynolds Raking- Sean Reynolds has been able to find the power in his bat this season. He currently leads the league in home runs and is tied for the lead in the league in RBI's and also leads the league in runs scored. He is also the league leader in walks with 30. Reynolds currently stands in third in the NYPL in extra-base hits
Close Calls- Batavia has played a total of 44 games this season, 26 of which have been decided by two runs or less. The Muckdogs are 13-13 in those games. Batavia has the fourth best reord in one-run games, and the worst record in two-run games at 2-6.
Recent Roster Action- On August 1st, RHP Jameson McGrane was assigned to the Batavia Muckdogs, and LHP Martin Anderson was released.
Marlins Update- The Marlins game against the Atlanta Braves was postponed.
