December 5, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Hollywood Fame News Release

Hollywood, CA - It was announced today that MTV reality star Syrus Yarbrough will dress as the 11th man on the roster of American Basketball Association's (ABA) Hollywood Fame during their home opener on December 15 at Santa Monica College.

Yarbrough, a former college basketball standout at Santa Monica College finished his college career with the University of Hawaii-Hilo. He went on to earn stardom as a member of MTV's The Real World Boston and has continued as an active reality television participant having been in four series of MTV's Real World/Road Rules Challenge. Yarbrough will be eligible to play based on the ABA's eleventh-man rule, offering fans an opportunity to wear uniform No. 11, join the team during pre-game warm-ups, and be with the squad in the locker room before the game, at halftime, and after the game. In addition, Yarbrough will be on the roster and available to play in the game if head coach Don Casey makes the call.

"I'm pumped," said Yarbrough. "Since college you look for that one moment to get back on the court and into the spotlight with the crowd behind you. What better place to get back into the fame than with the Fame at their home opener no less. I am definitely excited."

"We are excited to have Syrus involved with home-opening weekend", said Mike Casey, Vice President of Operations. "Syrus is helping us achieve our goal of fun affordable sports entertainment with a Hollywood edge."

The Hollywood Fame is the newest team to join the ABA. They are owned by a host of celebrities and professional athletes including A.J. Discala, Nick Lachey, Geoff Stults ("7th Heaven" and "The Break-Up"), Stacy Keibler ("Dancing With the Stars"), former NBA legend John Salley, former MLB All-Star Brady Anderson, the Atlanta Braves Mike Hampton, NFL quarterback Kyle Boller of the Baltimore Ravens and NASCAR's Brian Vickers, among others.
