
MTS Centre gears up for Wheaties

Brandon, Manitoba - The Brandon Wheat Kings, in conjunction with the Manitoba Moose and the MTS Centre are pleased to announce that tickets for the Western Hockey League club's four regular season games, scheduled to be played in Winnipeg in 2005 will be on sale just in time for Christmas.
The four games, to be played during the second half of the regular season, will be mid-week contests and will give the Wheat Kings and the WHL the opportunity to showcase major junior hockey to fans across the province.An agreement to bring the games to the new MTS Centre was reached last June between the Wheat Kings, the Moose and Kevin Donnelly, Senior Vice President of Event Management and Business Operations for the new arena.
Brandon's first trip to the provincial capital comes next month when the Wheat Kings play host to the Eastern Division leading Saskatoon Blades on Wednesday, January 19th. Two games will be hosted in February - Wednesday, February 2nd vs. Calgary and Wednesday, February 23rd against the visiting Regina Pats. The Wheat Kings fourth game in Winnipeg will be Wednesday, March 16th when they face off against the Moose Jaw Warriors - a club that moved from Winnipeg in 1984.
Tickets to all four games will be available on Monday, December 13th. Prices for the 4-game Wheat King ticket package, which guarantees you the same seat for all four games are as follows;

As well, hockey fans from across the province will be able to purchase Wheat Kings tickets as part of a Team Canada World Junior Series Hockey Package that will include tickets to all three World Junior pre-Tournament games to be played December 21st (Canada vs. Finland), 22nd (Finland vs. Switzerland) and 23rd (Canada vs. Finland), featuring Rimouski Oceanic superstar Sidney Crosby. Tickets for the 3-game World Junior package range from $36 - $90.
On Monday, December 20th, individual tickets to Brandon's four games in Winnipeg will go on sale to the general public. Prices are as follows;

The Wheat Kings last played a regular season game in Winnipeg in November 1994 when Brandon beat the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes 7-1 before 7,500 fans at the Winnipeg Arena. Over seven thousand turned out last April to see the Wheat Kings upset Prince Albert in game six of their best of seven opening round playoff series. In 17 career games in the Arena, Brandon has attracted just over 100,000 fans.
The Wheat Kings currently have thirteen Manitoba born players on their roster including six from Winnipeg - defencemen Steven Later and Stephane Lenoski as well as forwards Mark Shefchyk, Lance Monych, Codey Burki and Ryan Reaves.
