Grand Rapids Griffins News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Monday recalled goaltender Petr Mrazek and left wing Tomas Tatar from the Grand Rapids Griffins and assigned goaltender Tom McCollum to the Griffins.
Mrazek, 20, owns a 16-7-1 record, a 2.26 goals against average, a 0.916 save percentage and one shutout in 25 games with the Griffins this season. The Ostrava, Czech Republic, native backstopped the club to back-to-back wins last weekend, stopping 53 of the 54 shots he saw in a 5-1 victory in Hamilton on Friday and a 1-0 shutout win versus Abbotsford on Saturday. Detroit's fifth choice (141st overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, the first-year pro also represented Grand Rapids at the 2013 AHL All-Star Classic last week.
Tatar, 22, ranks second on the Griffins and is tied for seventh in the AHL with 39 points (19-20-39) in 44 games. A fifth-year pro, the Ilava, Slovakia, native ranks among the Griffins' all-time franchise leaders with 83 goals (3rd), 103 assists (7th), 186 points (6th), 15 game-winning goals (3rd) and 628 shots (7th). Tatar, who was the Red Wings' second choice (60th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, has recorded one goal in nine career NHL contests.
McCollum, 23, has appeared in 17 games with Grand Rapids this season, sporting a 10-6-1 record, a 2.69 goals against average, a 0.899 save percentage and one shutout. The Sanborn, N.Y., native sits just one game shy of 100 as a Griffin and ranks among the team's all-time goaltending leaders with 5,477 minutes (4th), 37 wins (7th) and 2,365 saves (4th).
The Griffins return to the ice on Wednesday, hosting the Houston Aeros at 7 p.m. before embarking on a trip to Oklahoma City to face the Barons for back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. EST. Tickets for Wednesday's game are available at griffinshockey.com.
