
Aeros Add Two More

Houston, TX - Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill announced on Monday the team has signed defenseman Kane Lafranchise and forward Jamie Schaafsma, each to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).
Lafranchise made his AHL debut this season, going scoreless in nine games with the Oklahoma City Barons. He also has played in 32 games for the Alaska Aces of the ECHL this season, scoring four goals and adding 19 assists for 23 points. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound defender is in his third professional season, spending the bulk of it in Anchorage with the Aces. He also played collegiately at the University of Alaska-Anchorage from 2007-10.
Schaafsma joins the Aeros from their Central Hockey League Affiliate, the Allen Americans. The 29-year old center has played in 41 games for the Americans this year, scoring 15 goals and adding 15 assists for 30 points. The 6-foot, 190-pounder has yet to play a game in the AHL over the course of his eight-year career. He has played the bulk of his career in numerous European leagues.
Houston wraps a three-game home stand with San Antonio on Monday, Feb. 4 at 7:05 p.m. The team embarks on an eight-game road trip starting on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Grand Rapids at 6 p.m. CT.
