Motor City Mechanics News Release

REDFORD, MICH. – In an effort to assess the potential untapped hockey talent in the Michigan/Canada region, Motor City Mechanics Head Coach Garry Unger will host a prospect camp from August 23-26 at the Great Lakes Sports City ice arena in Fraser, Mich. Coach Unger, who will be joined by veteran Canadian Junior hockey coach Mark Davis, will use the four-day camp to evaluate hockey players ages 19 and up with less than 40 professional hockey games to their credit.

"This camp is an excellent opportunity to gauge the best young hockey players in the area," said Coach Unger. "Michigan is a great hockey state and I am confident that there are many talented, young players who just need an opportunity to showcase their skills. From Canada, we hope to attract up-and-coming players looking to get serious about their game." Those who excel at the prospect camp may be invited to the Motor City Mechanics training camp to be held the first two weeks in October.

In addition to providing a venue for showcasing their skills, the camp will also provide a learning environment for the hockey hopefuls. With a resume of 16 years in the NHL and 11 years of professional hockey coaching experience, Coach Unger looks to share his knowledge of the game. Coach Davis, who operated a hockey school for nearly a decade, also brings 20 years of coaching minor and Junior hockey talent to the table.

Those interested in registering for the prospect camp should contact the corporate office of the Motor City Mechanics by calling 866-794-3366 to hold their spot as space is limited. Registration forms can be obtained through the corporate office or by visiting the Mechanics' website at www.motorcitymechanics.com. There is a one-time registration fee of $175. For those who reserve their spot prior to August 16, the registration fee will be reduced to $150.00. All fees are due the first day of camp. Athletes are responsible for providing their own skates and equipment.

The Motor City Mechanics are a professional AA hockey team competing in the United Hockey League's Central Division. The 2004/05 season marks the team's inaugural season. The Mechanics play all 40 home games at the Great Lakes Sports City Superior Arena in Fraser, Michigan.
