AKRON, Ohio - Chicago Bandits left fielder Brenna Moss supplied the early offense with a solo shot to lead off the game, and the Bandits used a 13-hit attack to defeat the Cleveland Comets 6-3 Wednesday night at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio.

Moss, who fell just a double short of hitting for the cycle, continued to solidify her candidacy as one of the NPF's most potent threats at the top of the lineup. The veteran accounted for Chicago's first two runs of the ballgame, also legging out an RBI infield single in the second.

Moss collected her 19th and 20th RBI of the season in the victory, in which rookie first baseman Courtney Gano and rookie shortstop DJ Sanders also delivered solo blasts. Gano's home run marked her third of the season. Sanders launched her second in the winning effort.

Comets first-year right-hander Gretchen Aucoin suffered the loss in a complete-game performance. The former Tennessee standout fell to 2-3 on the season.

Bandits veteran Lacey Waldrop did not factor into the decision. The right-hander cruised through the first three frames before she surrendered back-to-back homers to Cleveland's Chloe Miller and Cao Yang in the fourth.

Fourth-year southpaw Haylie Wagner collected the victory, her fifth of the season, in a relief effort. Wagner struck out three of the five batters she faced and did not allow a hit before putting the ball in the hands of Paige Lowary.

Lowary, whom the Bandits selected No. 1 overall in the 2018 NPF Draft, earned her third save to move into a tie with Shelby Turnier for the team lead. The former Oklahoma standout allowed the potential tying run to come to the plate in the seventh but battled through to keep the three-run lead intact and secure a six-out save.

The Bandits and Comets will continue their six-game stretch Thursday at Firestone Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast via NPFTV.
