ROSEMONT - Chicago Bandits right fielder Emily Crane will return to her alma mater and join the softball staff at the University of Missouri, an MU Athletics spokesperson said Wednesday.

Crane, a third-year pro who graduated from Missouri in 2016, is in the midst of her second season in Chicago. The Troy, Missouri, product holds a .333 clip at the plate with six RBI during the 2018 season. Her eight stolen bases rank fourth overall in National Pro Fastpitch.

"We are excited for Emily to pursue this tremendous opportunity back at Mizzou," Bandits general manager Toni Calmeyn said. "She's put her appreciation for the school on full display and we look forward to seeing her continue to grow as an advocate of the game of softball."

During her historic four-year career at Missouri, Crane earned national recognition as a 2016 First Team NFCA All-American, becoming just the third member of the Tigers program to receive the distinction. Crane also garnered a pair of All-SEC awards as an upperclassmen and produced one of the greatest senior campaigns of all-time in Columbia. She owns top-10 career marks in a plethora of offensive categories, including batting average, hits, doubles, RBI, stolen bases, runs and slugging percentage.

After she received her degree in graphic design from the university, Crane became the seventh overall selection in the second round of the 2016 NPF Draft before an offseason trade landed her in Chicago. The acquisition proved beneficial for the Bandits as Crane paced the club with six home runs in 2017.

"Emily is a Mizzou Tiger to the core," first-year Missouri head coach Larissa Anderson said in press release courtesy of MU Athletics. "The pride and passion she has for Mizzou softball is contagious and engulfs everyone around her. Being one of the most successful players to graduate from this program, she can relate to our players and what it means to be a Tiger. Not only am I excited to have Emily complete our staff, but I know our fans will be excited to see her back in our dugout as well."

Crane and the Bandits will return to the diamond Wednesday night when they continue their six-game stretch against the Cleveland Comets. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast via NPFTV.
