Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa- Waterloo Black Hawks goaltender Cale Morris won two of three games over the weekend, leading to his selection as the United States Hockey League's CCM Goaltender of the Week for the second time in the last three Mondays.

Morris and the Hawks went 2-0-1, and the 18-year-old did not allow a goal in regulation. Friday, his 21 saves gave Waterloo a 5-0 road win over the Madison Capitols. At Young Arena the next night, Morris did his part to keep the game scoreless through the end of the third period, before the Tri-City Storm prevailed, 1-0, in overtime. However, the Larkspur, Colorado native followed up Saturday's 26-save performance with a 34-shot shutout as Waterloo claimed the Sunday rematch, 3-0.

The Black Hawks acquired Morris in a trade on January 17th. Since then, he has appeared in eight games with a 6-1-1 record and three shutouts. Allowing just eight goals on 202 shots, Morris' save percentage as a Black Hawk is currently a dazzling 96%. Including his time with the Chicago Steel earlier in 2014/15, he has moved to seventh among league goaltenders in goals-against average (2.58) and save percentage (91.3%).

Morris joins forward Brock Boeser as the only other Black Hawk to win one of the USHL's weekly awards on multiple occasions. Hayden Lavigne was also named Goaltender of the Week in October.
