Belleville Bulls News Release
BELLEVILLE, ON - Following a tough road loss on Friday night, the Belleville Bulls look to bounce back as they host Max Domi and the London Knights in the middle of a 3 game weekend. The Bulls dropped their thrid straight contest on Friday night, falling 2-0 to the Ottawa 67's. Meanwhile the London Knights picked up their fifth consecutive victory downing the Sarnia Sting 6-2. With a shorthanded line up, the Bulls will look to right the ship when the puck drops at 7:05.
The Knights continued their hot play of late on Friday night, scoring five second period goals on route to a 6-2 win over the Sarnia Sting. Forwards Max Domi and Chandler Yakimowicz both picked up a goal and an assist while former Bull Aaron Berisha also scored his 14th of the season in the win. Netminder Michael Giugovaz stopped 21 shots.
Thornhill, Ontario native Mitchell Marner continues to lead his club and the entire OHL in points as he has potted 35 goals and picked up 56 helpers in 43 games played. 1996-born centre Christian Dvorak has pitched in with 31 goals and 49 assists in 42 games played. Arizona Coyotes draft pick Max Domi has buried 2 goals and added 5 assists in the last 4 games.
The Bulls couldn't solve 67's goaltender Leo Lazarev on Friday night as the Russian import registered his second shutout of the season, helping Ottawa defeat the Bulls 2-0. Defenceman Alex Lintuniemi and Ottawa native Curtis Meighan were the goal scores for the 67's. Rookie goaltender Connor Hicks was named the third star and made 32 saves in the loss.
Vancouver Canucks prospect Jordan Subban, who didn't play against Ottawa due to an illness, leads the Bulls with 17 goals and 19 helpers in 43 games played thus far. Stephen Harper, who continues to help out on both sides of the ice, has scored 11 goals and picked up 13 assists in 42 games played.
The Bulls continue to be without forwards Niki Petti and Brett Welychka as they remain sidelined with injuries. There has been no word on the status of Subban and Adam Bignell, who also missed Friday's game with an illness. Expect to see Toronto native Charlie Graham back between the pipes for the second and final meeting between the two clubs.
