Morning Skate: Bulls Wrap up 3 in 3 vs. IceDogs

BELLEVILLE, ON - The Belleville Bulls wrap up a 3 in 3 weekend on national television as they host the Niagara Ice Dogs televised on Sportsnet. The Bulls are coming off a tough 4-3 overtime loss to the Eastern Conference leading Oshawa Generals on Saturday night but did manage to pick up a crucial point. Niagara also fell in extra time 24 hours ago to the Kingston Frontenacs at the Rogers K-Rock Centre. Both teams will be looking to rebound in front of in nation when the puck drops at 3:05pm.

Despite scoring back-to-back goals in the second half of the third period, Frontenacs defenceman Chad Duchesne scored 2:30 into overtime to hand the IceDogs their second straight road loss. Graham Knott, Brian Brosnan and Josh Ho-Sang were the goal scorers for Niagara. Over age netminder Brandon Hope made 23 saves in the loss.

The IceDogs are led by Ho-Sang who has buried 6 goals and added 23 assists since being acquired from the Windsor Spitfires. Toronto Maple Leafs prospect, Carter Verhaeghe has pitched in with 18 goals and 25 helpers in 42 games played. Goaltenders Brent Moran and Brandon Hope have split most of the action since Hope was brought in from Owen Sound. Hope has .916 save percentage while Moran owns a .894.

It was a night of first for Bulls forwards last night as Maurizio Colella scored his first career OHL goal and newly acquired Trent Fox buried his first as a Bull. The Bulls had more success on the man advantage going 2/2 in the first 20 minutes. David Tomasek had Belleville's other goal. Rookie Brandon Saigeon and Brett Gustavsen both picked up two assists. Connor Hicks made 36 saves in the loss.

Vancouver Canucks prospect Jordan Subban still leads the club with 17 goals and 19 helpers in 42 games played. Forward Niki Petti has potted 14 goals and picked up 17 helpers in 42 games played as well.

With Hicks starting on Saturday night against Oshawa, expect Toronto native Charlie Graham to get the nod between the pipes this afternoon. The Bulls will look to finish off a busy weekend on a high note as another 2 points are up for grabs.
