BARRIE, ON - The Belleville Bulls begin the second half of the 2014/15 OHL season on the road as they travel to Barrie to ring in the New Year with the Colts. Despite falling to Mississauga in a shootout on December 20th, the Bulls headed into the Christmas break on a high note, owning a 17-14-1-2 record, good for fourth the in Eastern Conference standings. This is the second and final meeting between the two clubs, Barrie defeated the Bulls at the Yardmen just over a month ago. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm.
Barrie opened up the second half of their season with back-to-back wins over Guelph and Owen Sound last weekend. 1996-born centre Andrew Mangiapane led the team with a goal in each of the wins while netminder Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 55 shots in total.
Forwards Kevin Labanc and Joseph Blandisi are just a few more of the many offensive weapons the Colts have. Labanc has racked up 15 goals and 40 assists in 34 games played while Blandisi has posted 21 goals and 33 assists in 34 games played as well.
Blackwood, the Thunder Bay native, has seen action in 23 games and owns a .912 save percentage and a 2.90 goals against average.
The Bulls are led up front by Dallas Stars prospect Remi Elie who continues to impact games offensivley. Elie put up 12 goals and 20 assists in the first half of the season. Vancouver Canucks draft pick Jordan Subban started the year off strong leading all OHL defencemen in scoring early in the season. Subban has now dropped to eight on the list but still has impressive numbers with 13 goals and 15 assists in 34 games played thus far.
Netminder Charlie Graham, who took home CHL goaltender of the week honours back in late September, has been steady between the pipes for the Bulls. Graham has played in 28 games and has made 923 saves in total so far. The Toronto native currently leads the league in shootout wins with 4. Look for Graham to continue his solid play moving forward.
The Bulls return home to the Yardmen Arena on New Years Day as they host the Kingston Frontenacs at 4:05pm. Great seats are still available, visit our website or stop by the Bulls Box Office on Thursday for all ticket information.
