Belleville Bulls News Release

BELLEVILLE, ON - The Belleville Bulls host the Peterborough Petes at the Yardmen Arena for the third and final time this season on Saturday night. The Bulls are coming off another tough road loss to the Ottawa 67's and will be looking to snap an eight game losing skid on home ice. The Pete's are also hoping to bounce back as they were defeated by the Oshawa Generals on Tursday night. Puck drop is set for 7:05pm.

Oshawa opened the scoring just seven minutes into the opening frame and never looked back on downing the Petes 5-2 at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Thursday night. 1995-born centre Hunter Garlent, who was named the second star of the contest, scored both goals for his club drawing helpers from Steven Varga and Cameron Lizotte. Netminder Dylan Wells made 31 saves in the loss.

The ninth place Pete's are led offensively by London, Ontario native Josh MacDonald who has potted 24 goals and added 20 assists in 46 games played this season. MacDonald has picked up 5 points in the last 6 games played. Buffalo Sabers draft pick Eric Cornel has also been a big contributor in the scoring department as he has buried 13 goals and added 28 assists in 50 games played. Since being traded from the Sudbury Wolves, left-winger Nathan Pancel put up 6 points in 13 games played in a Pete's uniform.

The Bulls dropped their fourth straight game at TD Place in Ottawa on Friday night as they were defeated 3-2 by the 67's. A late goal by Nathan Todd that had to be reviewed sent the Bulls packing after a delayed puck drop due to a leak in the roof. Goal scorers for Belleville were David Tomasek (9) and Niki Petti (15). Rookie goaltender and Kanata native Connor Hicks made 27 saves in the loss.

Vancouver Canucks prospect Jordan Subban continues to look for his record breaking 20th goal of the campaign. He is currently tied with Shawn Lalonde for most goals by a blue liner in a season.

The Bulls continue to be without forward Stephen Harper who has been a strong force of late. Harper will sit out the second and final game of a suspension for slew footing. Expect Toronto native Charlie Graham to get the start in goal.

With Peterborough on the outside looking in and just four points back of the Bulls, a very important two points are on the line.
