Belleville Bulls News Release

KINGSTON, ON - Looking to bounce back from Thursday night's tough loss at the hands of the Peterborough Petes, the Belleville Bulls continue their short road trip this time heading east on the 401 for a date with the Kingston Frontenacs. Connor Hicks was given his first OHL start and made 33 saves but the Petes offence was too much as they presented the Bulls their first loss of the season. On the flip side, the Frontenacs have won two straight and are look continue their hot start to the season.

In front of 2,225 fans at the Peterborough Memorial Centre, the Bulls took the ice looking to extend their early two game win streak. The Petes came out firing early as the they tested Hicks with a number of chances leading the Bulls 10-2 in shots five minutes into the opening frame. Josh Maguire opened the scoring for the Petes at 6:29 but the lead was short lived as Brett Gustavsen picked up right where he left off last Saturday night against Sudbury. Gustavesen buried his second as a Bull off an assist from rookie defenceman Jack Hanley. The score would remain tied at 1 after 20 minutes of play.

The goals continued to come in the second, this time it was Belleville lighting the lamp first to open the period. Ashburn, Ontario native Adam Laishram hammered home his first of the season on the power play to give the Bulls their first lead of the game. Peterborough had a couple of answers however, Hunter Garlent and Dominik Masin both added their names to the score sheet to give the Pete's the 3-2 lead heading into the third period.

Continuing to ride their momentum, Adam Timleck made it 4-2 Petes just 2:42 into the third stanza. Bulls veteran forward Rem Elie would add one more for his club before Peterborough potted 3 un-answered markers to close out the contest.

Just 6 months ago the Kingston Frontenacs lost 3 straight in dramatic fashion after being up 3 games to none over the Peterborough Petes in the Eastern Conference Quarter Finals. Looking to erase the bad memory, the Frontenacs have also started their season with two straight wins. Juho Lammikko is one of two new Finnish players who has quickly made a name for himself in the Limestone city. Lammikko scored his first OHL goal in Kingston's season opening win over Peterborough and has recorded 3 assists in two games to lead his team in points. The Fronts are coming off a 3-1 win over the Ottawa 67's in their home opener and have had a week off to prepare for the visiting Bulls. Kingston dominated the 67's in shots 34-24 as netminder Lucas Peressini made 22 saves in their second victory in as many games.

The first half of a home-and-home is set for 7:00 PM from the Rogers K-Rock Centre in downtown Kingston. On Sunday, October 5th it's Belleville's turn to host the Frontenacs in the first afternoon match up of the season at the Yardmen Arena.
