Morlang Returned To Royals

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward John Morlang has been returned by the Lowell Lock Monsters of the AHL to the Royals. Morlang played in two games for the Lock Monsters, a 5-1 loss to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Sunday and a 4-1 win over the Albany River Rats on Wednesday. Morlang has played in all nine games for the Royals this season, scoring three goals and picking up two assists and eleven penalty minutes in those games.

In another transaction, the Royals signed Adam Horvath (5'11"/175; dob: 04/17/79) as an emergency back up goaltender. It is expected that Horvath, who played his college hockey at Buffalo State and was with the Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey Season last season, will be in uniform for the Royals this weekend. Also today, the Royals released emergency back-up goaltender, George Bosak. The Royals also activated forward Larry Courville off of the seven-day injured reserve; and placed forward Doug Christiansen on the seven day injured reserve.

The Royals next game is Friday night at the Sovereign Center against the Dayton Bombers (7:00 p.m.). Reading will wear New Orleans Brass commemorative jerseys that night, which will be auctioned off after the game with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the victims of the recent natural disasters in the Gulf Coast and Florida. Fans will also receive a Cody Rudkowsky trading card courtesy of the American Red Cross. On Saturday night, the South Carolina Stingrays visit the Sovereign Center for the one and only time in the regular season this year. Hockey's most prestigious prize, the Stanley Cup will be at the Sovereign Center that night. Fans will have an opportunity to have a photograph taken with the Cup, as the Royals, the ECHL, and NHL join forces to raise money and awareness for the victims of the recent hurricanes in the southern United States. The Royals and Reick's Printing will also give away a pack of fan favorite player cards from the Royals' inaugural season (2001-02). This is the first in a series of five player card giveaways commemorating the fifth anniversary season of the Royals.
