Aiken Foxhounds News Release

AIKEN , S.C. - The Aiken Foxhounds (13-5) came into Thursday night's game with the Bradenton Juice (10-7) averaging over 10 runs per game at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. However, Juice starter Lavelle Morgan kept the Hounds offense at bay all night, tossing a one-hit shutout and sending the hosts to a 4-0 loss, their first setback in nine home games.

Aiken starter Tim Drew left with an injury after just 30 pitches with one out and the bases empty in the second inning. Anthony Telford relieved Drew and retired the next two batters to end the frame.

Drew York led off the top of the third with a home run to left-center field off of Telford to give the Juice a 1-0 lead.

Aiken struggled all night against Morgan (2-1). The Hounds did not record a hit until Telford sent a two-out single through the left side of the infield in the bottom of the fifth.

Telford (0-2) was touched for another run in the top of the sixth. Luke Barganier reached on a one-out single, and Eddie Kim plated him one out later with a double to left field for a 2-0 Juice lead. The right-handed Telford allowed just two runs on six hits in 5.2 innings pitched. He struck out four before leaving after seven innings.

Morgan set down ten batters in a row after Telford's single in the fifth. The left-handed hurler pitched 9.0 innings, giving up just the one run while walking two and striking out 11 Foxhound hitters.

The Juice tagged on two insurance runs in the top of the ninth off of reliever Tim Sweeney. York and Julius Thames had RBI hits in the frame. York finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI.

The Juice and the Foxhounds will take to the field for game two of three-game series Friday evening at 7:05 PM.
