
More changes to Polar Twins roster

[WINSTON-SALEM, N. C.] - Polar Twins Head Coach Bryan Wells continues to shuffle his roster to find a winning combination as he announced today the signing of Chris Kovalcik and Cam Werfelman, and the release of defenseman Joe Pace. The Polar Twins continue their ten-game stint away from LJVM Annex tonight as they visit their rivals from Asheville at 7:30 p.m.
Kovalcik played the 2002-03 season with the Lowell Lock Monsters and the Boston Bulldogs of the Eastern Junior Hockey League, where he recorded 10 points on three goals and seven assists in 15 games for the Bulldogs and had 10 points on six goals and four assists in 21 games for the Lock Monsters. Kovalcik also compiled 154 penalty minutes in those 36 games. The 6'4", 215-pound defenseman/forward spent the 2001-02 campaign with the Brockville Braves of the Central Ontario Junior Hockey League and the Brampton Capitals of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League where he combined for 45 points on 10 goals and 35 assists in 62 games with 230 penalty minutes. Kovalcik also helped the Capitals to the 2001-02 OPJHL league championship.
Werfelman attended Polar Twins training camp this season and will make his debut tonight in Asheville. The Spokane, WA, native played three seasons in the Central Hockey League, with stints in Wichita, Border-City, Tulsa, and Corpus Christi and had 13 points on six goals and seven assists in 70 games. The 6-foot, 220-pound defender also tallied 237 penalty minutes in that span.
Placed on waivers was defenseman Joe Pace, who has played in all seven games so far this season for the Polar Twins, tallying one goal and 11 penalty minutes. Pace was also a -2 in those seven games.
