Aces win 5-3; ties for 1st place in SPHL

ASHEVILLE—The Asheville Aces defeat the Winston-Salem Polar Twins by the score of 5-3 to win their fourth straight and tie Jacksonville for first in the SPHL. The Aces got a pair of goals from defenseman Dan Pszensczny along with a goal and assist from the hot hand of Janis Tomans, who has scored 9 points in the last three games for the Aces. Peter Bournazakis got three assists in the game. The Aces were cruising 4-0 before Winston-Salem came back with three unanswered goals before Tomans sealed the deal with 9:14 left in the final period.

With the teamÂ’s 5th win of the season coupled with JacksonvilleÂ’s first loss of the season, 4-1 to Fayetteville, the Aces hope to move into sole possession of first place tomorrow night as they play host to the Huntsville Havoc. Face-off is set for 7:30.
