The Sea Dogs got into some penalty trouble in the first period, but Auger and the penalty killers kept Saint John in the game early.

It was 16:04 into the game before the first goal was scored. Beachemin beat Auger for his 14th of the year to make it 1-0 Halifax.

Despite three power play opportunities for the Mooseheads, shots in the first were close, 10-9 for the Herd.

Another power play early in the second saw Halifax pull ahead by another goal. Ashley scored his 26th of the year to make it 2-0 with the man advantage.

Saint John killed another penalty, and had some key chances to get on to the scoreboard with their own power plays in the final minutes of the second. Clarke had other plans though and stood tall to keep the Sea Dogs scoreless.

Just 1:32 into the third period, MacKinnon picked up a loose puck and beat Auger to make it 3-0.

A Saint John 2-on-1 with Stephen Anderson and Noah Zilbert was foiled as Clarke slid across to stymie Anderson. The loose puck was poked away to kill the chance.

Maxime Villemaire had a great chance, but put it wide on Clarke after Halifax got into some penalty trouble of their own. The Sea Dogs had a 5-on-3 midway through the final frame, but the Moose killed the opportunities to keep the three-goal lead.

Tsogkas powered into the zone after stealing the puck at centre ice and backhanded home a shorthanded goal under the pads of Clarke. His third of the year was the Sea Dogs fifth shorthanded marker of the year and made it 3-1 at 13:27.

Auger kept it close as he could, robbing Konrad Abeltshauser with less than a minute remaining in the contest. He got some help from his best friends as the Moose hit to goal posts in the final minute to keep the final score 3-1.

Saint John finishes their season on the road this weekend, wrapping things up against the PEI Rocket Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. Tim Roszell will have the call on News 88.9 FM or fans can check out the TELUS QMJHL Webcast .
