Mooseheads Acquire 20-Year-Old Samuel Asselin

The Halifax Mooseheads announced today that the team has acquired 20-year-old forward Samuel Asselin in a trade with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

The L'Assomption, QC native won the Memorial Cup with the Titan last season and was named a tournament all-star after leading the event in goals scored with five. In exchange for Asselin, the Mooseheads sent prospects Cole Larkin (defenceman) and Yannic Bastarache (forward) along with a 2019 2nd round pick to Acadie-Bathurst.

"We love the grit, character and skill that he brings to our team plus he brings a wealth of experience that is paramount for success this season," said General Manager Cam Russell.

Asselin scored 42 points in 48 regular season games split between Shawinigan and Acadie-Bathurst in 2017-18. He will be in the lineup tonight when the Mooseheads open the season on the road against Saint John at 7pm. Halifax will also visit Charlottetown tomorrow night. The Mooseheads home opener is set for Saturday, October 27th at 7pm against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
