Manitoba Moose News Release
The Manitoba Moose, in conjunction with the Canadian Forces, are pleased to present the fifth annual Manitoba Moose Military Appreciation Night on Saturday, March 13, 2010 when the Rockford IceHogs visit MTS Centre. Game time is 7:30 PM.
For the first-time ever, the Moose will present the Manitoba Moose Canadian Forces Community Service Award to one deserving member of the military. The award will recognize a military member with outstanding service and dedication to the Winnipeg Community through volunteer participation in community organizations, government sponsored activities and humanitarian work. The award winner will be introduced prior to puck-drop at centre-ice and presented with a framed Manitoba Moose Military Jersey by Honorary Colonel Jim Ludlow, CEO of True North Sports & Entertainment Limited.
The Moose and Military have many unique events planned as part of the special evening. Members of the Manitoba Moose will wear limited edition white and silver military jerseys with the official Canadian Forces Crest for the game. There will also be a 60 second in-game video that will focus on the humanitarian efforts of the military including the PRT in Afghanistan, Haiti relief efforts and the patrols for pirates (HMCS Winnipeg).
Prior to the game, the Air Command Band will entertain fans on the South Stage of the MTS Centre concourse. The HMCS Chippawa Band will perform both the U.S. and Canadian national anthems while being accompanied by a Flag Party that will include the Canadian, US, Manitoba, Air Force, Army, Navy and Canadian Naval Centennial Flags. MTS Centre Event Staff will also hand out 3000 Naval Centennial Thundersticks to the first 3000 fans through the doors!
