MOOSE NOTES

Schultz Keeps Scoring: After scoring two goals Friday night, adding another on Saturday in Cleveland, and then one more in Grand Rapids on Tuesday, Moose forward Jesse Schultz has now scored eight goals in 16 games this season. He is just one goal shy of his career-high of nine, recorded over 70 games last year. Schultz also has three assists to sit in fourth place in Moose scoring this year with 11 points.

A Rare Penalty Shot: Yuri Novotny's penalty shot attempt in Friday's 6-5 overtime win by the Rochester Americans over Manitoba was only the 12th time a penalty shot has been awarded against the Moose in their 10- year history. With Wade Flaherty's stop on Novotny, the Moose penalty shot record rose to six goals allowed on 12 opportunities for a 50% success rate by opponents. The most recent penalty shot awarded against the Moose was on Dec. 17/04 when Alex Auld stopped Hamilton's Steve Ott in Hamilton.

Limping Home: When the Grand Rapids Griffins came back with 1:40 left in regulation to tie Tuesday's game with the Moose at four, it marked the second time in as many games the Moose had given up a lead when ahead after the second period. In their previous game against Cleveland, the Moose led 2-1 after the second period but gave up two third period goals and lost the game 3- 2. Before those last two games, the Moose were 6-0-0-0 when leading after the second period this season.

50-Plus Firing Gallery: The 53 shots fired at Wade Flaherty in Manitoba's 5-4 shootout loss to the Grand Rapids Griffins on Tuesday was only the fifth time in their history the Moose have given up 50 or more shots. Three out of the five times, the Moose have suffered shootout losses. Maitoba ended up six shots against shy of the franchise record set all the way back on January 16th, 1996 at Las Vegas when they faced 59 s h o t s in a 6-2 loss.
