Moose Get Ready for "Legendary" Friday

The Manitoba Moose Hockey Club announced that Friday, March 26, 2004 is being billed as "Legends Night". That night, prior to the AHL game between the Manitoba Moose and Rochester Americans at the Winnipeg Arena, the organization will host a "Legends Game" between Manitoba Hockey Legends and the Talking Heads – a collection of local TV, Radio, newspaper, and sports celebrities. Gametime is 6:00 at the Winnipeg Arena.

The "Legends Game" is the fifth in a series of seven events throughout the 2003-04 hockey season when the Manitoba Moose Hockey Club have taken the opportunity to look back and honour the 49-year history of the Winnipeg Arena in this, its final full season.

The Manitoba Legends team will consist of such Manitoba hockey greats as Jim Benzelock (Quebec Nordiques), Ab McDonald (the original captain of the Winnipeg Jets), Carey Wilson (Calgary Flames), Ray Neufeld (Winnipeg Jets), Ted Irvine (New York Rangers), Wayne Babych (St. Louis Blues), along with many others.

The Talking Heads will consist of such local celebrities as Wade Miller (Winnipeg Blue Bombers), Donnie Smith (Winnipeg Goldeyes), Gord LeClerc (CTV), Dave Wheeler (Power 97), Jimmy Mac (AChannel), Mike Beauregard (CBC), Keith McMahon (CTV), among others.

1,500 Commemorative Posters will be given out to fans commemorating the opening night of the Winnipeg Arena on October 18, 1955.

The doors will open at 5:45 p.m. with pre-game introductions at 5:55 p.m.
