Manitoba Moose News Release

The Manitoba Moose are encouraging fans to 'Go Green' in support of the environment on Friday, March 19th when they host the Grand Rapids Griffins at MTS Centre. Game time is 7:30 PM.

All fans in attendance on 'Go Green' Night will be entered into a draw to win a trip for two to Vancouver to catch the Moose take on the Abbotsford Heat on Monday, March 29th and then attend a Vancouver Canucks game on Tuesday, March 30th, courtesy of Moosehead. Ten contestants will be chosen randomly throughout the first two periods of the game. During the third period, each contestant will receive an envelope and enclosed in one will be the trip voucher. On video, each contestant will be shown opening their envelope to unveil the winner. The winner will receive a pair of tickets for each game, airfare for two, along with three night's hotel accommodation.

Fans are also encouraged to wear green to Friday's game to make a statement about the importance of living a greener and more environmentally friendly lifestyle. As well, the first 6000 fans through the doors of MTS Centre will receive a set of Moose 'Go Green' Biodegradable Thunder sticks!

True North Sports & Entertainment continues their own efforts to make the MTS Centre more environmentally friendly through the following initiatives:

* The MTS Centre recycles ALL plastic bottles and aluminum cans. They are collected from all containers, and then separated by hand during daily cleaning. To date this year, we have recycled 423,280 bottles and cans

* The MTS Centre has added an electric boiler supplied by Sempa Power Systems as its primary hot water source, which greatly reduces the amount of time the gas boilers actually operate. In fact, this system has already saved 1,124.9 tonnes of Greenhouse Gas Emissions, or the equivalent of over 2,000,000 miles of driving -- which can also be measured as 100 times around the earth or five times to the moon and back

* All MTS Centre building chemicals, such as hand soap or cleaning soaps, as well as water treatment chemicals are environmentally friendly green products

* All finishes and paints used in the MTS Centre are non-oil latex based products * All cardboard boxes and office paper are recycled

* All paper products, such as hand towels and toilet paper, are 80 per cent recycled paper

* The next step to further cement our commitment to the environment is to only carry biodegradable containers. At this point, MTS Centre is 90 per cent recyclable, biodegradable, and compostable

Moose fans can get their tickets for the March 19th & 21st games vs. Grand Rapids as well as all other Moose homes games by visiting www.moosehockey.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 780-3333.
