
Montreal Signs D'Agostini

MONTREAL (August 14, 2009) - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today the signing of forward Matt D'Agostini to a one-year, two-way American Hockey League / National Hockey League contract for the 2009-2010 season. As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
D'Agostini, 22, amassed 21 points (12 goals, nine assists) in 53 regular season games with Montreal during the 2008-2009 season, his third campaign as a professional. At the time of his recall from Hamilton on November 27th, 2008, the 6'0", 201-pound right-winger was AHL's third-leading scorer with 25 points (14 goals, 11 assists) in 20 games with the Bulldogs. The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native made his regular season NHL debut during the 2007-2008 season, when he skated in one contest with the Canadiens, a 3-1 win versus the Buffalo Sabres on April 3rd, 2008. D'Agostini made his post-season NHL debut in Montreal's 4-2 loss to the Boston Bruins in game one of the Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals on April 16th, 2009. D'Agostini participated in three of the Canadiens' four Stanley Cup Playoff games last season.
In 2007-2008, D'Agostini finished the season as Hamilton's second-leading scorer with 53 points (23 goals, 30 assists) in 76 games. In 2006-2007, D'Agostini helped the Bulldogs capture their first AHL championship by producing 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in 22 Calder Cup Playoff games after posting 49 points (21 goals, 28 assists) in 63 regular season games during his rookie campaign as a professional.
D'Agostini was selected in the sixth round, 190th overall by the Montreal Canadiens at the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Ellery Award-winning broadcaster Derek Wills will call the play-by-play of all 80 regular season games, while Al Craig will provide the colour commentary for all home games and select road games.
