Adirondack Phantoms to introduce Coach Gilbert to media

The Adirondack Phantoms announced today they will introduce head coach Greg Gilbert to the local media at a press conference on Tuesday, August 18th at 10:30 AM in Heritage Hall in the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Gilbert, 47, joins the Phantoms after spending the previous three seasons as head coach of the Toronto Marlies, the Toronto Maple Leafs' AHL affiliate, where he compiled a 123-89-10-18 record, including a 39-29-5-7 mark in 2008-09. In just his second season as head coach of the Marlies, Gilbert finished the regular season with a 50-21-3-6 record and led the team to the Western Conference Finals of the Calder Cup Playoffs.

The Phantoms are inviting all media and the general public to meet the coach and members of the Flyers and Phantoms organizations. Rob Brooks, co-owner & president of the Phantoms and Paul Holmgren, general manager of the Philadelphia Flyers will be in attendance.

The Adirondack Phantoms will open their 2009 Pre-Season campaign on September 19th at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey against the Lowell Devils. Adirondack will hit the Civic Center ice on Friday, September 25th for their home pre-season game against the Albany River Rats. The Phantoms 2009-10 Home Opener is slated for Saturday, October 3rd at 7:30 pm at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

The full 2009-10 schedule is available at www.phantomshockey.com. In operation since 1936, the AHL will again serve as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams when its 74th season gets underway on Friday, October 2nd.
